A beautiful Mexico City street art photo tour! All murals are organized by neighborhood and include exact Google Map locations so you can find them on your next trip to Mexico City.
Oh, Mexico City ♥️
A sprawling metropolis — home to almost 22 million people — with neighborhoods that feel like cities in their own right. It would take months, if not years, to truly understand its complexity and contrasts.
We originally set out with the intention of creating a post on Mexico City street art that could be used as a self-guided tour, similar to this post on Tulum street art. However, it quickly became apparent that the street art experience in Mexico City is vastly different from Tulum, and not nearly as manageable.
First of all, the city is enormous. Sure, you can walk in individual neighborhoods, but it would be hard to cover more than that on foot. Secondly, murals are too spread out to have a concentrated street art tour. There are some hubs, and while they are not so few they are very far in-between.
Instead, the street art experience in Mexico City goes a little something like this. You are walking on a bustling street, minding your own business and looking for a bite to eat, then BOOM! You look up, and there is one of the most well-crafted murals you’ve ever seen brightening up the side of a 6-story apartment building. Or, you’re driving home after a long day of sightseeing, take a wrong turn onto a random alley, and find yourself in a world-class street art gallery.
We made sure to capture the best pieces we saw to share them with you here. The photos are organized by neighborhood and include exact locations so you can find them yourself if you’d like.
We hope you enjoy viewing them here as much as we enjoyed discovering them!
